Description
The DS3231 is a low-cost, extremely accurate I2C real-time clock (RTC) with an integrated temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) and crystal. The device has a battery input, cuts off the main power source and maintains accurate timekeeping. The built-in generator improves the long-term accuracy of the device and reduces the number of components in the production line. The DS3231 is available for commercial and industrial applications in a 16-pin, 300-mil SO package. RTC stores information about seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month and year. Less than 31 days of the month, the end date will be automatically adjusted, including adjustments for leap year. The clock operates in either a 24-hour format or a band/AM/PM display in a 12-hour format. Provides two customizable alarms and a calendar that can be configured for square wave output. Address and data are transmitted serially via a bidirectional I2C bus. A precision voltage reference and temperature-compensated comparator circuit monitors the VCC state to detect power failures, provides a reset output, and automatically switches to a backup power supply when necessary. Additionally, the /RST pin is controlled to generate a manual microprocessor reset. Time-saving and highly accurate adding: DS3231 also has several other features that enhance the system's range of additional features and capabilities. The device is equipped with a very accurate digital temperature sensor, accessed via the I2C* interface (simultaneously). The accuracy of this temperature sensor is ±3°C. The built-in power supply control circuit can automatically detect and manage the main power and backup power (i.e. low voltage battery) to switch between power supplies. If the main power fails, the device can continue to provide accurate time and temperature without affecting performance. When the power or voltage reset value returns within the acceptable range, you can use the built-in reset function to reset the system microprocessor.
